The Committee on Industrial and Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship supports the Bill "On Responsibility for the Damage inflicted due to the Product Defect"

Discussing the bill (Reg.
No.7408), N. Korolevska, Chairperson
of the Committee,
emphasised that it shall set the responsibility for the damage inflicted by the product
defect. The fundamental
tasks of the bill are: harmonization of the Ukrainian legislation with the European Unions
norms on responsibility for the
defect products; implementation of the European principle of responsibility without producer´s fault for the damage inflicted
by the product defect; provision of effective balance between the responsibility of the
producer to recover damage inflicted by the defect in the product put into
circulation and the right
of the consumer of the respective product for
the compensation.
The bill amends the applicable order of recovering the damage inflicted by
the product defects that are movable property.
The bill enlarges the register of reasons for exemption and
reduction of responsilbity
of the producer for the
damage inflicted by the product defect.
